In addition to the normal considerations that businessmen take when evaluating alternative courses of action, these business decision-makers would go to fortune-tellers, listen to what they say, and then make a final decision. The extent to which the fortune teller's words influence the decision varies from case to case. Typical situations where the fortune teller may be consulted are: whether or not to start drilling a site believed to be seating on top of an oil deposit; whether or not to launch a new product; whether or not to buy shares of a listed company; whether or not to keep high balances in a particular currency, etc.
